JA Company of the Year Competition Overview
The goal of the JA Company of the Year Competition is to create a signature showcase for Junior Achievement and the high school students who benefit from the impact of the JA Company Program®. This annual celebration of success will allow young people to demonstrate their business acumen and spirit of entrepreneurship in a competitive environment which will engage business, education and policy leaders as well as the national media.
At the event, students across the United States proudly present the results of their enterprise and learning experience and appear before a panel of independent judges who determine company performance against the competition criteria. For a team to win this award, it is not sufficient just to run a financially successful JA Company or create an exciting product/service. Team members also must demonstrate an understanding of how and why the company performed as it did, and balance the business achievements of the team as a whole with each member’s individual personal development. Judges will look for evidence of innovation and application of new ideas in all aspects of their company operations.
There are three stages to the competition:
- Stage One: Finalist Selection (Written JA Company Report and Commercial Video)
- Stage Two: Trade Fair booth display and popular voting
- Stage Three: JA Company presentation before the judging panel
Please be advised booth displays and team presentations must be prepared prior to arriving at the event. The Summit schedule does not allow for team practice time. Teams should expect to be engaged in full-day competition activities for the duration of the Summit.
